Defence of the ancients

Defence of the ancients (dota) is a very popular custom game of the Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. There have been a few variation of dota, but the most played and most recognizable is Dota Allstars.

The objective of the game is to destroy the opponent's Ancient (or normally called a throne), a very tightly guarded structure in the 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock direction of the map. Players can control over 80 different heroes, and are assisted by allied heroes and AI-controlled fighters called "creeps". Player will level up their hero and use gold to buy equipment and weapons. Killing a creep grants some gold, while killing a heroes will be more gold.

This game is an official tournament game in all over the world, even in WCG allstar dota is also listed as the official competition game. You can also download the game to try it out, but you must have Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne installed in your computer in order to play Dota. You can download the dota map at http://www.dotaas.com, and the map is frequently updated, either to add some items/heroes or items/heroes tweaking to make the game more balanced.
