You know, one of the great things about reviewing gadgets, is that you always get send things in the mail. And I've been taking a good look at the new Sonix7 Touch Pro 4GB MP4 Player which arrived on my doorstep a few days ago.

First impressions are the price. At just £69.99 it is very affordable as an MP4 player, let alone as touch player boasting a 2.8 inch TFT screen. This compares to the hefty £99.99 entry price that Apple places on even its' basic 4GB Nano models.

The Sonix7 Touch Pro is small and also surprisingly light. The screen is bright, and the Apple style icons entice one to start touching straight away.

Now, while Apple is the master of the user friendly interface, the Sonix7 Touch Pro is a little more Windows orientated. Saying this, I found that in a few moments I was able to easily navigate and control what I wanted with just my thumb over the screen. And in case that is all too much, there is also volume control and menu button to hand.

The biggest plus on the player is the bright 2.8 inch screen. It is such a relief on the old eyes to watch a video in widescreen. Previously I have have been using an 5th Generation iPod for the past 18 months, and found that the screen was just bit too small to watch comfortably.

The Sonix7 Touch Pro comes with many other great functions. To my surprise, while listing to my first MP3 (Madonna's '4 Minutes', from Hard Candy) the lyrics sprang into life across the screen as Madonna and Justin Timberlake belt out the words.

There is also a very useful built-in speaker, FM radio, digital voice recorder, text reader and pretty decent digital camera and video camera too. And for those who feel 4GB is not quite big enough, there is also a Mini SD card slot to boost thing by another 2GB.

Sonix7 Touch Pro comes with a mains adaptor USB lead and video software to convert your files. And connecting to a computer is very simple, just plug in and drag and drop the files you want, it seems to play pretty much file format, MP3/WAV/MPG/AVI etc.

To be honest, if you are looking for cheap MP3 players / MP4 players with a touch screen, the Sonix7 Touch Pro is hard act to follow. sonix7.com for all your discount MP4 players.
