Environment Friendly Wood Pellets

The emergence of wood pellet stoves paved the way of a cheaper and more convenient way of producing fuel. Wood pellet stoves have gained popularity over the past years and are now widely in use in commercial and even home usage.

To power these stoves, pellets, specifically woodpellets are being used. Wood pellets, are biomass materials. This means that they are products of common trees and plants. Pellets for residential use are made from sawdust and woodchips, that are considered as waste products in sawmills, lumberyards, and furniture companies. These wood pellets do not contain any additive since the naturally occurring resins in the wood bind them together.

In the US, there are over sixty pellet mills that manufacture woodpellets, to answer the recent demands of this material. Pellets are widely available at stove dealers, feed stores, garden supply stores, nurseries, and building supply stores. They are usually sold in forty pound bags and some are sold by the ton. Other mills, for convenience, offer pellets in twenty pound bags.

Common characteristics of wood pellets, are that they have a minimum density of 40 pounds per cubic foot; their length is kept at an inch and a half maximum, and their diameter at one fourth inch. They must also have a limited amount of sawdust in their composition and have a limited salt content at no more than 300 parts per million. They must also have a required ash content for frequency.

Using woodpellets, have an advantage and they are mentioned as follows. Pellets are highly convenient as bags of them will stack in a compact manner thus allowing easy storage. Bags of pellets can be stored in a small area so they do not take up much of the space. They are also convenient in that they easily load into the stove hopper. In the environmental concern aspect, the use of woodpellets, reduced the cost and waste aspect of fuel burning. On the lighter side, burning of pellets will give the viewer a wonderful sight of fire and a comforting feel.

As the society is growing, people are finding more and more ways to improve the way of life. The advent of wood pellet stoves is evidence of this. It is nice to note that even if development is fast, there is still concern for the environment as to recycling waste and using it in a more practical way.

The use of wood pellets in firing wood pellet stoves will go a long way since the advantages of doing so outweigh its disadvantages. It is also a cheaper alternative for the rising cost of natural gas and will address its shortage. Although buying a wood pellet stove will cost you a bit at first but it is worth the investment. In the long run, it will save you a lot of money. Aside from that, you will also be helping in conserving the environment, now, that is a good example of hitting two birds with one stone, isn't it?
