The Word Press Theme: An Overview

They say that first impressions last. This is quite true even in the Internet. The look of the blog and the vibrations it gives the readers as well as the feel of it will decide whether the readers' attention should be focused there or not. The wordpress theme is responsible for attracting visitors and readers not only to check out the site but also to keep coming back. It also is responsible for sending out a message that is visual in nature to the readers and of course, the main goal is to send the message across clearly and correctly.

No matter if the posts in the blog are clever and witty, and also well researched, if it fails to give a good impression to the crowd, then the "visitor retention" percentage if not low would be definitely a failure. That is why the best option if not getting a tutorial, is to understand what make up wordpress themes and if you are really interested in learing how to make your own theme, there are surely a number of short courses that tackle that.

The basic parts of the said themes have just about similar structures of any template layouts on the Internet. There five parts are: the top most portion of the page called the header.php, the bottom part of the page called the footer, the left or right section of the page known as the sidebar.php, the portion that shows the main contents of the page called the index.php, and the style.css that refer to the CSS styles.

As soon as those five parts are completed, then congratulations, you have made yourself a template that of course still needs to be customized here and there. But at least you've done what seems to be a "draft." A little creativity and a bit more hard work will lead you to the wp themes that you desire.

If you are not tech savvy and don't have any ideas when it comes to JS, HTML, CSS, PHP, etc. then there are programs developed to help you make your own themes the easy way. They are normally called theme generators and all you need to do is indicate the number of columns you need, the menu type, the text scheme, the tag cloud, also the color scheme, and a lot more. You will just select from the list in the drop down menu and VOILA! By just clicking on the button for saving your choices, the program will direct you to a link wherein you can download the compressed files and upload your own customized theme. Great, isn't it?

Those types of programs are the tools available that can aid you in creating basic themes for your blog site. With it, you can spice up your site with the graphics, videos, etc. that you want. Learning about the Word Press basics is a good start. After all, if you want your blog site to be successful, then you should be aware of not only the contents of the site but also the lay out, the design, the themes, to name a few, because these are the things that would either lure or push away the visitors or your targeted audience.
